ND Token Found In MN:help:

Dug

New member
Went to a city park near where I live yesterday for about 3 hours. This park has been hunted to death (almost). I did squeak out one damaged wheat penny, but could not read the date. Also, found the token pictured here, which I thought was going to be silver. It was deep, 8 inches, and gave good 12-45 to 14-46 readings. I was running two tone ferrous.

Van Hook, ND is a ghost town since 1953 or so after the Garrison Dam was built and the city was inundated. The residents of this town moved to a location nearby and started a new town, appropriately called New Town. I can't find any info on Johnson's Department Store, or anything about the rarity and/or value of this token.

Nice find Dug! I've found 4 tokens since I started detecting, three of them similar. The names of local business and such. I know there is a token book for Nebraska and an "Club". Wonder if there's anything like that for North Dakota. Some of those tokens can command a pretty good price. Thanks for the picture.
