NC Hunters

James NC

New member
I have just moved to the Clinton, NC area(Two weeks ago), and am looking for a couple of folks to hit the area. Already got my Library card and will start researching soon. Just looking for someone that likes to land hunt. I would also like to know about the laws if any and what the wildlife is like, Spiders, snakes, ticks, ect.

Thanks for your time,

James Burke

Dear James,

My name is David Fedder. I live in Surf City, but do not mind driving around the area to meet up with hunting partners. Its is just more fun in my opinion to hunt with others and share tips so we can find as much as possible. I never hold anything back because I figure there is plenty for all to find. I would be very much interested in doing some land hunting as well.

Most of my experience has been hunting at the beach, schools, and parks. I recently started going to some older churches in the area after getting permission to do so. The churches were located in the Wilmington, NC area. Wilmington has been around since the 1730's. I have found enough stuff to get my tongue wet so that I am eager to find more after doing some reseach in the area. There is a NC room in downtown library in Wilmington, NC that has information from newspapers/etc. that would really help with learning about the history of this area. Here is more info on the NC room: he State and Local History Collection houses materials which relate to North Carolina. Much of it has been handed down through several former public and private libraries dating back to the Cape Fear Library of 1760. Although emphasis has been placed on collecting information about Southeastern North Carolina, the collection includes materials from across the State. The collection continues to grow though library funding and generous donations. It is housed in the North Carolina Room, New Hanover Public Library, 201 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

A non-circulating collection, all research must be done in the North Carolina Room during regular library hours: Monday through Wednesday, 9:00 am to 8:00 PM; Friday and Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 PM; and Sunday 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Some materials, such as manuscript materials and special collections, must be requested at least one day prior to coming to the library. State and local history materials are not allowed out of the North Carolina Room. A copy machine (15 cents) and a microfilm printer (25 cents) are available to make copies. Some materials are too rare or fragile to be copied, such as those housed in locked cases. To obtain material from these cases a library card or driver

It is great to meet you. I think dad just ordered a pair of Grey Ghosts thru Phil last week as he beach hunts in Wilmington. Dad does no land hunting but I am hoping to change that. AS soon as I get some research done for this area I will give you a call.

You are right, it is fun to have a hunting partner, someone to show the finds to, and help you find the areas. The partners I had back in Iowa did Gold panning and metal detecting and him and I had a blast finding old coins as well as the history that went with that area. I have also returned 3 rings to there owners and that is a feeling that can't be beat, even though one of them called me at 2:30 Am after a snow storm. She was 82 and a little crazy but it was still worth it to see that smile. Anyway I am going to Wilmington beach this weekend with dad. I don't know which day yet, but as soon as I now I will shot you an e-mail and maybe we can meet up. I am going to try the WOT coil and I hope it does not wear me out.

Thanks,

Jim Burke

Dear James,

I look forward to meeting you. I already have permission to go to property that has had civil war relics found on it. I have actually been waiting to hunt it with others. Feel free to give me a call as well. I check my voice mail often. My number is: 910-233-1653.

Look forward to meeting you and doing some metal detecting. I will show you as much as I can concerning the area.

From,

David
