Navy button

W.R. and I hit a Mass. field that we'd hit a ton in the past. Very quiet but we got a few corroded coppers (George II and ??), 18th cent. strap buckle, few odds and ends and this 1840s(?) era Navy button, backmarked "Robinson and Co/Extra Rich." Buttons aren't my area; anybody know exactly what I have? Thanks!

Awesome button Ted. It was pretty quiet there, but you managed to score nicely. You and I and Bill can do that other spot on a calm day so that the Fishers don't get soak by salt spray. As I said yesterday,
it is an 1820's to 1840's Navy button. I always like the Robinson backmarks as, the Robinson company was in Attleboro Mass., which is where I grew up.

I had forgotten exactly what you said about the date; thanks! I have a feeling that if we are patient enough that place will give up a bunch more stuff. Take care today; gotta go work work work!
