Native Tool ?

Now I'm not so sure it's even granite! I've seen rocks of this material all my life in the upstate of SC (was just visiting Northeast Georgia where I found it). So I guess it is native to this area, just not sure what they call it.

I asked those at arrowheadology and most think it's an artifact, grinder of some sort. A few others believe it's a worn river rock that was tumbled around, but it isn't smooth at all.
