Native SpearHead?!

New member
Hello.

I was recently in Manitoulin Islands and came across some things in the water and wanted to know if you had any information on what it is or where it may have come from.

The first one is a very sharp and hard metal. Starting to turn a tealish rust colours so it must be old. It looks almost like a hand made arrow or spearhead..

The second is a carving in a rock of what looks like aboriginal man.

Please see attached photos and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,

Chantal

Wow ! From the pictures I would guess exactly the same as you have. Sorry I can't add any pertinent info but if they're authentic you may have some extraordinary finds in your hands. One quick (and completely serious) question . . .have you had a run of bad luck since taking the rock home ?

Nope! No bad luck! Good luck, actually!

Is it a belief I should have bad luck now?
It depends on where you are from Chantal. I lived in Hawaii for many years (I have family there) and it is commonly believed that taking/moving native lava rocks from their spot (especially at sacred sites) is bad luck. After hearing enough stories I'm inclined to think there may be something to it . . .at least enough that I played it safe and never tempted the gods by taking any stones. I would consider showing your finds to a museum or other associated institution so someone with the knowledge (and not some dumb old superstitious detectorist) can give you some credible information and advice. Good luck to you . . .

Know nothing about the rock, but the points appear to be copper culture spear points(made of native copper) , usually found in upper michigan and if they are theyre quite valuable.

Try selling on ebay they have an artifacts pages to sell on look up other spearheads for sale first see what something like that may be going for- awesome finds good luck

Do you still have it? The copper piece is a typical "doe foot" or "swallow tail" type copper knife from the old copper culture, this particular style is probably in the 4-5,000 year old range.
