Native American artifact or just a rock?

Found this in an antique desk.. The lady that was the original owner of the desk was believed to be at least 1/4 Cherokee. Thanks for any responses...

It looks like just a rock...... sedimentary, maybe sandstone.

Thanks Larry,, I think so to, but thought i would get other opinions...

Looks like a water worn rock to me too.

Sedimentary like Larry said. Not knowing what state it was found in makes it more difficult to determine the rock type. It looks a lot like red banded slate to me.

Also the fact that the original owner of the desk might have been 1/4 Cherokee has nothing to do with the rock. Some Native Americans collect Indian artifacts just like non Native Americans. No one of any race is born with an automatic knowledge of what their ancestors knew. It all has to be learned.

Thanks Flint hunter. I guess was i was sorta intrigued by it's heart shape and where i found it. Again Thanks.

Flint hunter it was found in KY.

It doesn't look smooth enough to have been used as any type of tool. I believe it's simply a nice looking rock.

Looks like a rock. But it is a nice looking rock
