Nasa Tom's new DVD

Low-Boy/LCPM

I was not that impressed with the DVD for one thing he did not show how a small coil would make a difference and he didn't talk about sensitivity. Not everyone hunts with tones and his soil is very neutral. Coins sound different in my ground not every coin has a crisp sound and I dig them and they are coins. He didn't use a pin pointer and that would give him more time to find his targets and he uses a shovel to dig his holes I would get kicked out of every park if I did the same. He also uses his coil in the hole to find the target, (if he finds multy targets). I wish I could dig my holes that big.

He does have some useful info so I am not saying that I didn't get something out of it but it didn't teach me anything new...no new tricks, so I give it a thumbs down SORRY!

I liked the video. I see the points you are making but the video is already 90 minutes long and well worth watching.

True he does use a shovel and dig some very large holes. I was kinda glad as watching someone dig isn't very informative after the first 3 or 5 holes. By no means is he advocating go to your local park and do that, he mentions that it doesn't matter where he is searching.

Not all of his targets were crisp either if you'll recall. The "ideal" ones were but probably better than half weren't a "perfect" signal. And that's what he wanted to demonstrate, how to increase your odds of a good find by testing out those signals. I liked his techniques to do that.

I am sorry you didn't find it worthwhile, I really liked the video. He barely hides his excitement when he makes a good find which to me just adds to the fun.

Nasa Tom wrote me and told me it is true he wanted to do a lot more but didn't have the time and he had to make this more for everybody and less for the hardcore hunteers like me and you! He said if he makes a new dvd it will go into more depth on trash and he will use different areas to hunt, with different soil. He was rushed and could not use different coils to show masking from coils.

as a field tester we have word counts & time limit stuff & it's just not possible to cover everything & make every type detectorist happy. I'm sure beachunters are not that wild about my field tests. But, it was nice of him to give you a personal responce....

I watched this video and was very impressed, this guy really takes metal detecting serious. It shows he likes coinshooting best and he gives you all the information you need to find them.
I ordered his video, had it fast and recommend it highly to anyone serious about metal detecting. If he makes another video I will buy it in a heartbeat.
