That pic reminds me of many years ago in Pattons playground out in the desert. Fisher 2 box deep seeker. Larry RIP and I dug to china and found a huge military style broken rim...dig dig.dig dig dig cuss-what a hoot-John

This is why my blast through settings in extremely heavy iron work so well.
On my F70 all metal, sense and thresh maxed, SL boost speed.
Probably still can't find everything but in several sites like this I have been very successful when all kinds of combinations of disc just wouldn't.

Also if I use disc I am using 0 disc as much as possible for the same reason.

for 11 days, [taken me 11 months] another 1151 items, and he got 47 goodies and over 1100 pieces of trash....
Wonder if he ever hunted the outfield? :stars:
(imagine using an ATX in non motion)

Of course that was only for experimentation sakes, for the article. This is not to say we all need to "strip-mine" every speck of land "lest you miss a gold ring or masked coin".

If I were have to dig 1100 piece of trash, to get 47 more keepers from a worked out place, I WOULD SIMPLY be moving on to greener grounds :) I can think of parks that are certain to give up more barbers or seateds, provided someone strip-mined out the top 6 of every staple, nails, zinc penny, etc... But at a certain point, you throw up your hands and realize it's not worth it. I'd simply reach for my long list of places I have had on my back-burner to get to.

I think if I was to do something like that, I would ask for permission to use a backhoe and reseed and make like new. If I had dug 1100 trash, I would be call 911 to come get me. If Tom wants to know something about detecting he will go the limit.

Like Tom was saying, maybe in the future someone will develop a detector that can see through and around these masking items and we could start finding a lot of that 80% of silver still left in the ground that we are missing now. I know personally that you can remove a buried beverage can from the ground and it will open up about a square foot of dirt that was completely masked by the can.

That's nuts! I'd rather have a sister dancing on bourbon street than I had dig 1100 pieces of trash for a few keepers... would have been better off digging one big hole, dumping all the gear into it, backfilling, and walking away. ... but you have to admire the determination, resilience, and tenacity...
