NANCY, HERE IS ONE BULLET THAT HAS BEEN CARVED ON I DUG UP IN EAST,TN . THE FLATTENED ONE WAS USED FOR FISHING SINKER. LOOK FOR THIS BOOK CIVIL WAR PROJECTILES II SMALL ARMS & FIELD ARTILLERY WITH SUPPLEMENT. BY W.REID MCKEE & M.E.MASON,JR. IT SHOW PIC OF CARVED & WHITTLED ITEMS LEAD BULLETS.

Thanks Bob, I had no clue. When you had first said, "Whittled", I thought you meant they whittled them for the firing in the guns. Dah, I'm a redhead....:surrender: Now I totally understand and would love to see more. Did they make toys, etc. out of them? I'll have to do some research.
