Nancy and new MXT

Well-known member
Hi Nancy, Are you going to trade your old MXT for the new MXT PRO? I would love to have one of the new ones, but just can,t part with my old MXT, it is like an old friend.I was thinking that there would be alot of old MXT on the market now that the new one is out, but don,t seem that way.I have been looking for a MXT 300 at a good price can,t find one. If i could find one of them i would be happy till the PRO gets a year or two on it.I was just wondering if you were going to get a new one. Good luck Dean

Hi Dean,
No, I don't have any plans on getting a new MXT PRO. Like you, I am quite attached to my oldie, but goodie MXT. Honestly, it's not worth the $$$ to me for the few extra features. Besides, I get along just fine with mine and I think I do pretty darn good. I can run with the BIG boys and keep up with them. With the MXT being such a great machine, I wonder if most people will keep it for their back-up machine if they were to by the new PRO. Just a thought.
Good luck and HH,
Nancy

I have been strongly considering the MXT pro and keeping the older MXT as a back up. I picked up the older one over the winter to try it out and every time I use it, I love it that much more. I checked out the pro yesterday and like the tone in the coin mode. HMMMM Decisions! :beers:

I was just wondering about the new tone's on the MXT Pro as I have not seen one. Would it not be the same as the tone mod's that can be done on the old MXT?

I understand there are a couple new features to the MXT (not referring to the 12 inch coil).
How will those new features make the Pro any better than my OLD MXT?

The main one I see is the multi tones while you are coin shooting will help.

Does that Multi tone only work in coin mode or does it also work in relic??

Coin mode for multi tones, however the relic stays with two tone option, the low tone for iron. I like only two tones while relic hunting anyway, as I like to check and dig more.

I like the relic mode two tone also.
Glad they didn't change that.

None what so ever.
I was concerned about that to so I asked and here's a reply I got back from Carl at whites electronics.

Hi Rick,

The 'Pro is identical to the MXT, except for the new features: Tone ID, backlight, grab, and returning the trigger switch to normal operation. In fact, the Prime Directive in developing the 'Pro was, "Thou shalt not alter the MXT core code." Of course, we did alter the software to add the new features, and the pod circuit was updated to support the keypad and backlight. But the 'Pro and the MXT are otherwise identical.

Hummmm. I think I would like to have that back light on mine.
I'd love to get the new one and have the old MXT as back up but its going to be a long long time
before I can afford it. Otherwise I don't know how the new features will really help make my hunt better.
