I found this at an old homestead site that was occupied from 1911 to around 1940. Any ideas what it might be?

What's up with that?
 
How big is that? Looks like a sock stretcher or dryer? maybe a form for making a sock? Ive gotten cache errors messages also, so its not just your computer. I relayed that info to the administrator. CO
 
could it be a tool for applying castration bands? It looks pretty awkward for that purpose but seems to be made to sretch something.
 
I have seen something like this for working on Bicycle brakes...called a third hand, or helping hand...It holds the brakes closed or the brack cable stretched while you tighten the bolts...
