Does anyone have any idea what this is? Real coin, fake coin, very early video game token? Found it on tuesday, the E-trac reads it as 12-40, it has a seam around the outer edge which I think would indicate it was cast.

Never saw anything like that before!
Those"scratches", reveal what might be the original color - gray and the brown is just a patina??

I can see that it's grey metal underneath with an outer copper colored layer. Makes me think of a button but it's solid and doesn't have any attachment points for anything that I can make out.

It appears to be made from pot metal, or worse. the second pic shows a distinct straight line near the wreath. It looks like the piece was cast and broke off at that point...like parts for a plastic model. game piece maybe??..

Pot metal most likely but it doesn't appear to have a casting sprue. Kind of like someone wanted to make a fake roman coin. Some sort of game piece stikes me as a likely idea as well.

Maybe it's Roman play money:tongue:
But probably a game piece

Went back to the same site today. No more fake roman coins but I did find two .43 cal lead balls and a dog whistle. So tomorrow I guess I'll go out dog hunting.
