Myrtle Beach

I am heading off to Myrtle Beach for a few days. Does anyone know of any laws prohibiting detecting on the beaches?

Thanks,
Joe

The beaches are open to detecting. You will probably see others out there detecting too. Stay off the dunes. Watch out for kids or others who aren't watching where they are going and have fun.

I was in North Myrtle Beach last week. It was pretty sanded in. Tons of bottle caps and pull tabs, even in the water.

Hopefully the wind will change and move some of the sand off for you and take those light weight bottle caps and pull tabs with it. It's better finding the heavier stuff, like silver and gold.

I was there in late June/early July and yes there is alot of sand so hopefully you get a killer storm. I didnt, just sun and perfect weather! Talked to a long time local and he said the beaches were pumped over the winter with dredges. The finds were lacking but you never know what the dredges pumped inland that has been sitting out in the water for a long time. If I went back today I would just stick to in-front of the large hotels and focus on recently dropped jewelry. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the responses. I left Myrtle Beach last Friday and there was a lot of sand and not much in the way of finds. Still had fun, though.
