Mylittle offering for the day, including two real coin spills...

Uncle Willy

New member
Slipped out with the 250 between rains today ( yes it's still rainng in this perpetual swamp ) and rounded up this bit of stuff. Hit two playgrounds and didn't find squat, eleven cents at the first one and ten cents at the next one. The playgrounds here recently have been virtually devoid of coins. The economy must be hitting hard and the parents ain't shelling out a bundle of spending money to their kids anymore. I have hot several playgrounds that usually cough up two to three bucks but now are only giving up 50 or 60 cents and less.

Most of this pile was found in the ball field at the secong school I hit. I hit two coin spills, two quarters - a nickel - two dimes in the first and four dimes in the second spill. Could have scrounged up more but I was getting pooped and it was getting late.

Uncle Willy,
I agree about the economy hurting our tot lot banks. The last time I hit this towns busiest park it only gave up 9 lousy cents. But I hunt for the peace and quiet, and the mystery of never knowing what will come out of the ground next. So, I guess 9 cents is better than nothing or 9 pulltabs.

I guess with a bad economy we have got to start swinging a lot faster! Looks like a pretty good haul to me. Especially during hard times.

Glad you were able to get a bit and find some decent coin :)

Nice you could find some coins while I was hard at work. What's a "real" coin spill compared to a coin spill?

Yeah it's gettin out there and doin it that counts. I hunted a big playground one day and didn't find one lousy coin. I remember a few years back when school playgrounds were good for 5-7 bucks. Now those same playgrounds may give up fifty cents if you're lucky. Maybe the kids all have credit cards now. :) I went to this one school a few years back and pulled up nearly seven bucks under one tree. Those days are gone forever.

It's not about quanity, it's about quality. But, more importantly, getting outside and moving around, up, down. But the reason we all do this hobby is THE UNCERTAINTY OF WHAT'S UNDERGROUND, if we knew we wouldn't look. Thanks, keep hunting...

Little offering!
That aint darn bad it's so obvious you're an old pro.
What the heck as long as we all enjoy it.

Hey nice to see you gettin' out Bill.

I think that was directed toward my two silver back to back dimes that I like to call a coin spill. Some day I'll get me a real 3 coin silver coin spill and I'll ammend my thinking. What is 64 pennies and three dimes in one hole called? I know the young lady who buried it too.
