Got to try out my killer scoop in some sand. What a difference from using my smaller scoop. This scoop is DEEP with each bite, so I don't have to make so many attempts to dig the target. With this scoop, 3 strikes and what is in the sand.....stays in the sand.

I worked for about 6 hours in the water. The ice just finished melting a week ago as stated by a local. I managed some loot, some rings, an Eagle on a chain and the usual junk.

Here's the rings with "Diver Dan"..... looks like one brass and a mood ring. No gold today! :)

Looks like your ready to clean up. And not just trash either. Can't wait till you show us GOLD in that their scoop!!

John you are the man using the Infinium. I am frustrated with mine. I was beginning to think it would make a nice boat anchor. I took it to the beach this morning after rereading all the posts on ground balancing etc. Went through the GB motions - no problems on dry sand, went to the wet sand GB again had to use a small amount of discrimination, as soon as the water hit the coil false signals started. No problem I thought -GB again and slowly increased the discrimination-still got false signals. So again GB & increased the discrimination finally the unit seemed to become more stable. I stayed in basically ankle deep water to practice. I was worried at first because I had to set the discrimination to 3 and don't have enough time with the machine to know how much depth will be affected. The end result I found 2 nickels, a bottle cap and the remains of a fishing hook. I hope in time I will become half as proficient as you are with the Infinium. Scrooge

The Infinium discriminates to depth (one of the only machines to do that). What this means is you don't lose much of anything turning up the disc when needed.

I've been in tough black sand areas that required me to bring the disc up between "3 and 4" with no real loss of depth as I was still digging small targets to China!!! In alot of my hunts, I do need to run the machine at the levels you've listed and I don't miss much of anything!!! Garrett has even said that you can hunt with no threshold (silent) and not lose much performance. I've also hunted that way while still digging construction size holes to the center of the earth:surrender:

The Infinum has to be adjusted for salt water use, it takes practice to get it configured correctly. After a certain amount of time, everything will click and start to make sense to you.

The reason is this machine is so sensitive and needs to tuned for for the different types of areas likely to be encountered when hunting. I would say that having the disc at "3" when you got it running smoother is a good setting for the area you're working. The most important first step is to GB over the most difficult areas and really take your time doing it. If the unit is GB correctly within the proper operating frequency, and you have the disc setup for best performance, you should have a smooth and pretty quiet running machine!

Just send me a PM if you have any other questions:thumbup:

John Edmonton, you're still out there huh !!!:ausflag:

From what you're saying you had a cool hunt...

That's a real good looking scoop,
that timber handle is a great way to go,
and I guess it would float pretty well when you let it go too.

Have a great hunting season you great Garrett hunter ~ in the land of the blue nose!
