My work was cutting into my MDing, so I quit my job!!!

It is one week till I move north. I gave them my notice last week, so I can pack this week.

Today, I went to the lake at 7:00AM. There was a fort there once, now there is a park. It is a well used park and the trash is phenomenal.

I felt it might have been an omen, when I saw this guy in the park. I thought I would do a John-Edmonton thing and take a picture of the birdie on my Ace. He kept walking away and didn't want to cooperate. Trouble was I couldn't find a dead animal anywhere for bait.

This guy only wanted fish and I didn't have my pole.

This guy wasn't playing that game. He was on the playground equipment and he kept an eye on me.

I decided to go to the park across the street from my house. It use to be a 250 acre farm from 1870's. It seems like I only get clad and some relics there. Relics like pieces of bridle and many types of bullets. This park will keep you digging clad and doesn't seem to ever run out. One other thing; this place has panther and bear in it and both have made it into my yard.

This is everything I dug with one little surprise. This is the first wheat I found in this park. I should be finding a lot more wheat.

Nice John, better try and clean up before you go:detecting:

Great shot of some interesting birds and a great hunt too there John! I'd love to see a shot with a vulture on a metal detector, preferably not a Garrett though

And a wise decision too......to quit work because "it was cutting into my MDing." You should be knighted or put into "Sainthood"

Where will you be moving to?
I love the attitude. I also believe in working to live, and not living to work. Life's too short.
You will have some new types of opportunities open up to you, depending on where you move to. I'll miss those great shot's of the Space shuttle launching, that you posted.
All the best and we'll have to get used to seeing "John from........"

for our last big hurrah. Florida has it's good points.
I will be moving to West Virginia. My wife and I have lived in Fl. most of our lives, but we both are from W.Va. My autistic daughter can get better care in W.VA. Yes, I have been contacted about working in W.Va. I tried to get a job in sells in Fl. and they wouldn't hire me because I couldn't speak Spanish.
Fl. is getting too expensive, too crowded, too many hurricanes and tornadoes. W.Va. doesn't have either. Fl. is #1 in crime and W.Va. is second from the bottom in crime. The murder rate is out of control in Orlando. Fl. has a very transient society and it lacks in family values. When I sell my house I will be debt free and could pay cash for a house in W Va. Fl. is a good place to visit and I will miss MDing here. I don't want to grow old in Fl. and be stuck here. I have to get out while I can.
I use to be a state mining inspector. Maybe I will be John from down under.

John,
I know what you mean about buying a house free and clear. The property around my house has risen from $500 an acre to over $10,000 an acre in 14 years. I have my house for sale so I can buy a house free and clear also. That will be a burden off my shoulders. I'm self employed and that will mean more time for detecting, fishing and most importantly family time.

I just Google Earthed Marshfield. There is a great big park due south of the town square. Better pick that clean when you get there!

Yeah home prices out here in Oregon are out of sight and going higher every day. I bought my old house ( built in 1907 ) 30 some years ago for $6500. Now it's worth over $200,000. It's mind boggling. To me it's still a $6500 house.

John,
That house should give up a lot of loot! Since you've been in Florida sifting all signals from that soft sand I have some advice. There will be no sand in your sister-in-law's yard. You must now give up the scoop and work hard for the pull tabs! LOL!

I read the rest of the posts. WVA isn't so bad, lots of Civil War relics if you do your research first. I will be your neighbor, my wife and I live in VA. We ski in Snowshoe WVA, and WVA has some beautiful State parks and they will allow you to metal detect in most of them.
