On Friday, Debbie left for Kingsland, Texas to visit her Aunt for a few days. You will never know how much I encouraged her to make that short trip...she has been on my case for months telling me that the doctor said I can not do this or that until my legs improve. She acts like she is on that doctor's payroll with her antics of watching me like a hawk.
Well, as faith would have it, Sam Durham called me yesterday morning to let me know that he would be moving some cows and calves to another pasture and that I would be welcomed to come help and maybe stay for dinner. He said that I could ride in the four wheel drive pickup truck. I told him that I would think about it and call him back in an hour or two.
Needless to say, my mind started working ninety miles an hour...maybe I could try to ride one of Sam's horses, really not interested in riding in a pickup truck. Debbie is in Kingsland, and anything she does not know will not hurt her! I thought long and hard about how I could have my cake and eat it too...how I could possibly move some cows from the back of a horse again.
When I called back, Sam's wife Vicki answered the telephone. After a minute or two of chit chat, I told her that I was thinking about coming out there to help Sam move some of the cows. Right off the bat, Vicki said that I would be welcomed, but do not even think about asking Sam to give me a horse to ride. She said that Debbie had talked to her earlier in the week and warned her that I might attempt to ride one of Sam's horses. Can you believe this, Debbie told on me! I tried to convince Vicki that Debbie was just joking, but she did not buy it. That woman might have won this battle, but she will not win the war! Naturally, I did not go out there, not really interested in riding in a pickup truck.
It is kinda boring around here this morning, I need to find something fun to do. Cutting the grass is not my idea of fun. I have already read the Sunday newspaper twice, watched the news on TV, and tried to ambush the neighbor's little ugly dog that keeps pi$$ing on my truck tires. That nerd looking dog knows that I am trying to nail his tail and he waits until I am in the house to do his daily deed. Sooner or later, he will make a mistake and I will nail him!
Well, I better find something to do around here. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)
