You have to be single. My wife would run me off if I had that stuff for detecting! Well unless it paid the mortgage payment and lights, then she might put up with it. Thanks for all the tips and information you share.

Well, you thought of just about everything, how the _ _ _ _ did you manage to get all of that down there (assuming) on a plane?
Good luck, can't wait to see the results!

The locals there are very skilled and determined. It takes good equipment, coverage, deep water skills and a positive attitude to not get skunked. I did post some finds but will put this one up again. It's 14k, 18.9 gr. The cross came from about 7 feet of water. I work that depth by doing a few feet then jumping up on my scoop for air. There are locals who swim one handed to work the deep water but they miss a lot. The band (14k 18.5 gr.) came in shallower water with the CTX using Jay's Gold Program Target Separation on Ferrous / Coin, Manual Sensitivity @22. This is a great set-up--it brought up a small signal amongst the iron. If anyone wants to try this--do a row then go back again in High Trash. My buddy is one of the top pros in the world and when he likes a section he will put in ten rows on the same line--it works!

Sounds like you need to borrow or rent a HOOKAH set up from one of the local dive boats to make the 'deep' water easier to hunt. Maybe on a special occasion or location.

How many hunters do you usually go down there with? Same guys?

Your condo looks like my den.

Just me--wish I knew anyone who could keep the pace--its nasty. In that setting it's about mobility--a hookah would just slow you down. A bit too much wave action too, thanks. Mind you with my method if you come up for a breath and don't get one--lets just say that the next try is very important....
I also have a length of nylon rope attached to my scoop to make sure that it does not get away--if it did the lead would have to come off and hopefully not hang up on anything...

I admire your determination. Appears you have a well thought out routine in place tested over the years.

How long do you typically breath hold between surfacing?

Hope there is lots of Platinum in your scoop.

That's a good question--certainly not as much as some of the locals--these guys are former conch divers--used to spending the day in eight feet of water. They are all fanners and stay under forever. I do about six or eight one way wand passes then do a jump. I did the video to show how important it is to really work on your kit so that you are comfortable, safe, versatile and effective and can pretty well bounce back from any breakdown. Then get in the prime, proven ground and take a lot of quality signals and good things will happen.

Enjoyed the Video. Interesting to see how others prep for a road trip and the gear they bring along JUST IN CASE.

Nice video. Carrying all that stuff you must either get picked up at your door and eventually dropped off at the hotel front door or mail some of the less valuable stuff back home from the beach.
In your opinion which PI is best for warm salt water with moderate waves?

Anchor Electronics Barracuda small coil. Does it all. Mine is under repair right now though. DF is nice too but sometimes it struggles around changes--ie hills and zones with a lot of interference. Generic big coil issue--otherwise a superb detector.

Clive, I apologize for getting jealous, while watching your video. Looks like a great place to hunt.

I don't get in there too often and work hard to do so. Whined for that upgrade and they finally broke. Haul 140 lbs of gear in and a lot of the sites are very picked over by locals. Just persistence, knowing the prime ground, some deep water work, pulse and CTX performance got me a few. Used to do 15 rings in a day there but now-- It's not as great as it looks.

Most trips the triage unit is very busy. A while back brought 5 machines ended up borrowing. I solder with one hand, epoxy with the other--speaking of "back of the house". That's the reality behind the (rare) glory.

Wow, sounds like Zeus may have played a part on that adventure. I hope that you get a good break, and soon.

Interesting preference. Does the Barracuda sound off better over gold than the Aquasearch V2?
