And of course I just had to ding it...lol NEVER EVER figured I'd dig an LC especially in my Podunk town? Town wasn't even established until late 1880's. Was using TTF along with the 6" today for about an hr. and re-hunting a right-of-way that I've done many times before in MTC and also with the old Tesoro. I'm now a firm believer in TTF and the small coil....unbelievable!!!! The LC was 8-9" down in some real tuff rock and roots. I'm still shakin and can't believe I dug an LC here in Podunk MT.........

My oldest coin to date (previous oldest 1853 seated half from Idaho)

That's great. Thanks for the pictures. Gives me hope someday maybe here I might unearth one. We're in the same boat. Most towns around are mid 1880's vintage here as well. Congratulations on your LC.

Congrats on your first LC. Finding one that old in an 1880s era town should be no surprise.

Thanks guys.... Last thing I expected to find. Rang up like a 6" wheatie and once I got down to around 7" using the small 6" eq2 I knew it wasn't my wheatie but bigger and deeper and not silver. Figured it was deep junk that fooled me but wanted to learn TTF and worked hard to get that deep so I recklessly chased the "junk" deeper and suprise suprise!

congrats on your first LC! They are pretty amazing. Such a huge coin to be worth only one cent.

Great rare find! And in good enough condition to easily read the date too.

Yeah, every great once in a while digging a seemingly junk target pays off.

A big congrats on finding your first Large Cent ! :beers:

And yes ... the E-Trac running in 2TF with a small coil is a killer combo !

Big Hooh Yah on the LC, It's in great condition. HH Hunter.

Great coin...TTF will not disappoint...I always grid a area with multi then go back the opposite way in TTF...my small coil never leaves the machine anymore.
