I put it together tonight and im gonna hit the park at 5am. I just want to thank everyone again for your advice. It was much appreciated. Im like a kid on christmas eve!

Well, you are out hunting for Santa and we await that "first" hunt report! Good luck.

I have always wanted a vaquero, but somehow it has not happened enjoy that bab y

The Vaquero goes really deep. The next coil you need to get is the 5.75 concentric. It goes nearly as deep as the stock coil does and it works great in real trashy areas.

I hear that some people put the 5.75 coil on and never take it off.

Ugh..the damn pull tabs are becoming frustrating already. I have had it out 3 times already and im finding everything, no matter how small. Im worried I bought one that is more than i need. I know already i want a pinpointer and i think im going to find a park with less trash. I havent found any old coins yet, all modern clad. but im finding every denomination. I cant bring myself to throw away the pull tabs after all that work. so im starting a collection!

If you're looking for silver coins there's no need to go to a park with less pull tabs. Just turn the discrimination up just high enough where the pull tabs crackle and pop. At that setting you won't dig any pull tabs if you dig only clean sounding signals. You won't find any gold jewelry or nickels at that setting though.

Tabman is sure right about the 5 . 75" coil. I got one about a year and half ago. Havent taken it off yet. It is just as good as the stock coil. Makes the detector a little lighter too. To make it even a tad bit lighter, I don't use a coil cover when hunting in the grass. Not going to hurt the coil in the grass. The only time I use a cover is there will be stones or something that will damage the coil. Anyway, it has a lifetime warranty... KEN

Rusty Henry, talked me into purchasing a 5.75 concentric coil for my Vaquero. He highly recommended the coil and said it would pay for itself in no time at all.

He was right. Rusty always has a bunch of good information to share.

I would suggest getting the widescan 5,75 not the concentric. The 5.75 widescan's depth is about the same as stock, AND it has a larger detecting field and will work MUCH better in mineralized ground than the concentric. When upgrading, people usually get a widescan (or DD) coil.
