My V came in early enough to get out with it...........:cam:

Well Tabdog, You are getting quite a family there! :twodetecting: Hopefully they will be supportive of the new member, Mr Vaquero!! :tesoro: That Vaquero should be a great detector and it is already producing good finds for you! Several here on the Tesoro forum are buying the V and I think it is a good choice. I'm pretty sure I'll be adding one to my arsenal one of these days. Probably look for a good used one that needs a new home! Glad you got it in earlier and had a chance to get out with it. WTG!! Looking forward to seeing what else you find with it. Take care... HH TonyTX :)

I think it will get some things that might have been missed before. Enjoy the new buddy!

WTG !!!
From all the good things I hear about the V I bet you'll have no problems with the new Tesoro family member. Looks like it belongs there to me along with the others.
Have you tried along the tree line?
I hit a similar area like that and also did well along the tree line. Seems like folks walked it allot I guess to see whats in the bushes and trees or something.

hey congrats on the Vaquero, and the hunt. I am very happy it came early enough for you to test out.

I am looking foward to getting mine, Beale.

That's really great Tabdog!
a ring on the first time out....:clapping:

Very impressive spread you collected. Good chance there was little left behind.

There's a similar pool near my house. Unfortunately it only dates to the early '80s. I've never detected there, nor do I know of anyone else who has. I guess goodies would roll off the concrete and into the grass?
I'll have to give it a shot before summer!

I been trying to work my way over there. There is an asphalt walk path along the tree line.
There's lots of those around. The park has lots of places to look, but it's not a real old park.
It has been hunted for years. I have found some good things there. I have also spent many
more fruitless hunts there.

It sure gave me some needed experience in hunting technique. Some good finds in the process.

HH,

Hay R M P T R,

That place may look innocent enough but the fill dirt that is around that
pool is red clay ironey dirt with 1" sized mineralized rocks in it. Some SB2
and gravel are mixed in here and there. Conduit has been laid repeatedly
and some is abandoned in the ground. Electrical debris is everywhere.

It is Trash City. That is what protects the booty and keeps it from being
depleated completely.

I had given up on it several times before I found my first nice piece of jewelry.
That was a nice silver ring. That was my first ever, silver ring.

HH,

Hay Wane,

This pool only goes back to the late 60's or early 70's. I have never found a silver coin or a wheat penny there.

You are right. Most of the jewelry I have found was close to the deck, but not all of it. This area is tough. It has

wooped me more times than I like to remember.

It is more fun to remember the diamond ring. The Artcraft 14k ring is a nice memory also.

I gave up on this site several times before I ever found anything nice.

That was my first silver ring....Ever......

HH,

Your going to like the V. It's deep and a pleasure to use. Get the 5.75 concentric and run it supertuned. When you do run it Supertuned run the threshold full on and the sens as high as you can until it becomes to unstable to use.You will be shocked at the depth. I'm kind of interested in how you think it compares to the Eldo?.

Hi Ray,

The first Tesoro I had was a Cibola, so I have experienced most of what the Vaquero has to offer.
I absolutely loved my Cibola. But eventually I realized that there were places like this pool area.
The dirt around the pool area is red clay back fill with rounded, mineralized rocks. The red clay
has a lot of iron in it. It's very trashy and it is hard to get any depth there.

The Eldorado and the Compadre are better able to handle this site the way it was before I went
over it many times with different machines. The broader discrimination range of those two give
it an edge when the conditions are that harsh.

With only the 9X8 coil on the Vaquero, it is better suited for more open hunting. But the pool site
being some what cleaned out gave an opportunity for the Vaquero to get in there and shoot through
the bad ground a little deeper than the Eldorado. That seemed to work but, I need the sensitivity
of the 5.75 coil it better apply the Vaquero's power and sensitivity.

HH,

That's a nice looking ring Tabdog!

I got this load from a schoolyard, nearby.
This is about as close as I get to relic hunting!
Just HAD to pick up the stone, and bring it home... when I was a kid I would have surely tossed it far as I could throw!
My Pantera was acting up yesterday... think I'd better check batteries.

Hey Tabdog,
congrat's on the V - I can't wait to see some more of your finds with the cowboy as I too own one, although I haven't had much time with it yet. I have found that it is a pleasure to use with the 5.75" concentric and that was using standard settings with no supertuning. I feel sure that once I find the right site , the goodies will be forthcoming.
HH,
Ed
