Papa Bear's Crock Pot Supreme

small beef steaks (I use venison)
med. onion
pack of onion soup mix
flour
garlic salt
black pepper
cooking oil

Put enough oil in your frying pan to brown steaks (maybe 1/2 cup)
heat oil
use lean steaks. If they are large, cut into med size pieces (about 3"x3")
Put about 1 cup of flour in a zip lock bag.
add about 1 1/2 TBS garlic salt and 1 TBS black pepper (more or less if you like)
drop a few steaks in the bag, zip shut and shake to coat them.
add them to pan and brown both sides. you may need to add oil as you brown more steaks
while they are browning chop up med onion
also add a package of onion soup mix to 2 cups of hot water.
Pour some of onion soup mix in bottom of crock set on high
add some steaks to cover bottom and add some chopped onions over the steaks
add more soup mix and continue to layer as you keep browning steaks.
save a small amount of soup mix and onion for the top.
cook at least 3 hours, but 5 is better.
I have never added potatoes and carrots but am sure that would be great too!
Enjoy! :)

I use about 3 #'s of steaks and serve about 4-5 people with leftovers
If you are cooking for a couple you can scale your soup mix back to one cup
and use a small onion. If you are cooking for several just add as you see fit! :)

Papa Bear Mike!

I'd make that with some potatoes and carrots and serve it over some wide, buttered egg noodles. Mmmmm :)

the steaks come out fork tender, and the flour makes kinda like a gravy. So your choice of what you do with it! We put it on the plate and have sides with it, but Joe's idea sounds great, and just for giggles I am going to try it this week with potatoes and carrots like a roast!
