Been using a Silver U Max for about 8 weeks, great litlle machine. Have found a lot of clad, 4 rings(no gold) 2 necklaces, several charms off bracelets, many pulltabs, and a fare share of canslaw. Had a chance last week to get a Deleon with extra 5.75 coil and a 11" widescan. Have been out with it the last 3 days and finding more each day as I get the feel for it. Not sure if I will keep it as I really like the U-Max and do not want to get away from using the soundn not relying on the tid. Great site here for use Tesoroholics, have a good day and great hunting to all. Don
You can always put tape over the display if you don't want TID. I like to run my D wide open, at no discrim but not in AM. It'll chirp on everything, and then I use TID to see if it falls above 20 on the display, and I will generally dig it if it does.
The Silver is a great detector, the Golden is great as well with the tone ID .... Just a thought in case you decide to try something different the tones are great instead of relying on a TID for visual diagnostics of a target. I think a Deleon with different tones would be a cool idea though for both visual and sound identification of targets.
