My take on what this White's project "V" is about.

I just read the White's Engineers interview. I bet the code name project V is an updated version of the 6000 series. Look at it this way.
The 1st of the 6000 series came out in the 1980's and it had a blue box. The 2nd version was the early 90's version which was all black and had the same body style as the Spectrum. 3rd you had a version called the 6000 Di PRO SL which was the body style of the newer slimline Spectrum, Then 4th you had the last model of the line which was just the straight up XL PRO.
ENTER CODE NAME V. the 5th version of the popular cult like following 6000 series.

Think about it........

Take care
Jason

love to see that!..hope you are right!

had a alien ship that crashlanded on there property by the factory and the engineers scurried out and harvested the advanced technology and will soon be applying it to there latest and greatest. Rumor has it you can pick up chinese coins on max setting but it comes with a digging laser probe so no problem. Its suppose to glow in the dark also so you can sit it down and not loose it.

i'll just settle for a "revamped" xl-pro!..come on "sweet home"!..bring it home!

What would we want in a "revamped" xl-pro?

Here is my wish list.

I would settle or the original XL-PRO with TONE ID (Mr.Bill) with selectable number/assignable tones.

1.I would ask for "RETAINING THE ANALOG METER"

2.Perhaps a Dual Frequency detector with dual needles to show raw VDI simultaneously.
(something like this) THIS

3.Recharge capability without removing the pack

4.Dual independent discriminators for each frequency

5. Memory card with recording option to document characteristics of each target scan.

Talk about a dangerous detector!

Or maybe it will just be a Vaquero inside a whites box. Bill in Texas - Sorry i could not resist.

Funny stuff!! One thing I do know...Whites is the manufacturer to watch. Whatever they come out with, it's a safe bet, it'll be stable, well balanced, well constructed and as simple or complicated as you want to make it. (Have a feeling that we'll have a comfortable transition to some new technology and performance gains.) Start saving your change Guys! Little ol' Sweet Home kicks butt.

interesting,

really goes into depth:

they do indeed, and have been for a long time!..they got the dough, the gray matter, and the incentive to stay number 1!

IF you go to the patent and click on "Images" from the menu you can view some interesting drawings and the patent in its entirity. You need to download a way to view TIFF files but there is a link in the help menu.

There is a drawing of and interesting "Waffle" type coil, With one large loop circling around 16 smaller ones. There are also methods White's has patented to deal with Noise, including feeding temperature info and Swing speed sense into the processing. There is also a bunch of stuff someone else will have to explain to me.

Could this be Project V?

Waffle coil with advanced noise canceling capabilities? The coil is "coupled" to a "Frequency Select/driver" There is a "coil select" to select which small coils to use. No doubt that this is not a single frequency unit.

Could be. Whites has always kept it's main focus on the hobbiest/utility market. But since the security issues brought about by 911, and the current volatility internationally, Whites has to be doing some development there. Rest assured, don't see them dropping the ball (like Garrett did) with their bread and butter...the hobbiest. They know that "fun" sells and that washes over into other products marketing plans and more importantly, results. Nuts and bolts only...naaa. Sexy sells that too.
