My take on the basic rule for AT PRO, sound about right?

Hey guys.

Basically ive seen the AT pro ring anywhere from high 30's to high 60's on different gold objects. low 70's to 90's on silver etc.

now of course pull tabs and all the other junk can be in these ranges as well. there is no real way of knowing, BUT one thing i have noticed is that anything that has even the slightest chance of being something good almost always has a decent solid signal. the target ID number doesn't wander much on repeated scans. if its junk the number will wander quite abit.

My question is, does this sound right? am i on the right track?

When i first got the machine I was digging even jumpy signals but now i only dig the solid ones no matter what the target ID ( unless its under 30-35 ). does it sound like im on the right track?

Thanks, been a bit of a learning curve for me.

cheers.

You are definetly on the right track. The VDI numbers will vary somewhat depending on the depth of the target, the size of the target, the amount and type of mineralization in the soil, the coil type, the ground balance, any oxides that have developed on the surface and % of silver, %of gold and what gold is amalgamated with.

There is no one size fits all.The variable extrinsic and intrinsic factors do affect the VDI numbers. But, generally, silver and copper read in the hihgher numbers, and gold in the lower numbers.

The wandering ID numbers happens when there are different alloys/metals. Bottle caps are a good example.

I found a 24K womans gold ring 4.7 grams which came up on my pro at a solid 78, I usually don't dig that twist off bottle cap signal ( or small silver ring signal LOL), but this sound was really clean and at the speed I swing I knew it was smaller than a twist of bottle cap,

For,some reason, I can't dig 53 anymore. If is solid ! It is a pop top. I am sticking to this. Let me know if you find anything good at 53. If it wavers down, I will dig.
Just my rule, maybe It is just my machine. But sticking to it for now.

Some might check with their gold rings. It would be good to know I am wrong.

These are some of the VDI which my gold rings I found comes in, 45, 47,49,51,55,57,58,59,61,63,66,67, and 78 are very stable clean sounds. I agree with you, almost all the 53, I come across are pull tabs.
