I started with a Minelab Sovereign back in 1996 and have used all the different Sovereigns series over the years and have a GT with the Sun Ray 180 meter and the Sun Ray pinpoint probe and 3 different coils for it. I also have a XS2a like you do with the Sun Ray 180 meter and one of the favorite coils of all time the 8 inch coinsearch coil and switched the battery to the older style plug in battery for the XS as it is the new 2500 Mha battery so it will last a lot longer. I did this one as a back up or to let others try out and give them tips on the Sovereign.
Now if you have used and understand it I am sure you will feel like most do that it is one of the best if not the best detector for coin hunting, if like most you probably hated it to begin with and wondered why you bought it and the more you used it the better you like it and when you really understand it you loved it and wont be without a Sovereign in your line of detector.

Good luck
Rick

Hello Rick,
yes I love it and his sounds, we love since 2001 3 months ago I made the 180 meter and only few days ago I bought the Makro Racer 2, I still love my Sovereign he's older and wiser than Racer 2, for me XS2a is better.

Good Hunter

I bought my GT about six months before Minelab abandoned the series. Took me a while to learn to love the machine but once I did I wondered what I would do if it should ever fail so I bought a used GT. Thankful that I did as My first one has been giving me A problem and needed some expert attention. Glad I bought the second machine as my main one has been in the shop for 11 weeks as of today.

Got a new permission at an old church. Pastor said "If anyone gives you any static tell them I said you could detect and I control who comes and I control who comes and goes as I pay the rent." I do have to go see if I can find a corner stake for him and the property owner. The owner owns some other properties and I am hoping that the search for he corner stake might lead to other permissions.

The weather thaw has left me with flooded pastures and after pumping water all day, decided to start fence repairing, which this is one thing less to do in the spring and enable me to do more detecting. Those who know the Sovereign will always keep one of these metal detectors.Nothing better detecting a good site with a Sovereign. Most of us use and other detectors but the Sovereign will always make the lineup complete.
