My Sovereign Elite

GaBeachsweeper

New member
I have an Elite which seems to be a real puzzle to figure out. I try to balance it in either Disc or All Metal, Band 1 or 2 Noise cancel and really haven't any idea if I am doing right or there is just some bug in the box or coil. I get right exasperated after a while and if in a heavy trash environment I REALLY get a short fuse with it. Sometimes it just continues sounding off no matter what I do and that is a bit hard to swallow given the cost of the machine. I also have an Excalibur which I just turn on and in most cases GO! Occasionally I find the need to tune the sensitivity one way or other but that aside I absolutely LOVE it. I got the Elite as a dirt machine and use my Excal and a PI unit exclusively at the beaches. I wish I had a Sov Guru to lend me a hand with it.
Thanks, been needing to blow this off the chest for a while now.

Your Elite works just like the Xcal with the exception of the band switch. band 2 is the same freq as the xcal, band one is just a little different one way or the other.
There is no ground balance. There is no noise cancel as on the Explorer.
Set up the Elite just like you would the Xcal. If it don't work, then there is probably something wrong with it.

Try the Xcal and the Elite BOTH in the same place that you are having trouble with the Elite. See what happens. If it's electrical noise, it will eat both of them up.

sounds like what happens when you hut two close to power lines. some times i can't get within 1000 feet of them are my machine goes haywire........

are you sure you do not have too much sensitivity and thresh hold as if this is not set up right it will go off all day long

this is the basic setting recommended to use which all ways seams to work OK.
all knobs set to the dots.
disc.
variable or fixed tone. fixed is less confusing
band 1 or 2 this switch is just to stop other machine interfering with yours.
threshold knob should all ways have a slite hum when hunting. don't worry about the pitch changing noses you will her when hunting that's just the machines multi processing doing its job cheking out the ground.

if using the machine sensitivity knob off auto you may have to lower this switch depending on the environment around about you. power cables ETC.
if you are using a large coil lets say a 18" instead of a standard one and are out off the auto setting the machine often becomes more sensitive and starts to operate erratically then you will have to lower the knob till the machine settles down. i find a small 5" coil works great just out of auto with no adjustments and gives you full depth.

you can't go rong with the auto settings just you may lose a inch are 2 in depth.
these machines have a great automatic cancellation tecneak. when a target is first found sweep it over a couple of times again and if the signal tone stays dig it up, if the signal disappears move on and keep hunting. easy as that.
