my small bullet collection

GRAY GHOST

New member
hello all, pictured here is my small bullet collection. the first pic shows different bullets usually associated with the confederate army; the second pic shows bullets usually associated with the union armies. although both sides used all of the bullets shown, its hard to say exactly who used them - or when. the .52 cal. sharps bullets on top rows of pic 1 saw heavy confederate use; the .58 cal. "3 ringers" saw heavy union army use, though the confederate army was also known to use them. so what gives? it looks to me like the ol boys shot at each other with just about anything they could get their hands on! also pictured are the following: several .69 cal. musketballs, a couple of chewed bullets, a couple of camp flattened bullets, one with a carved cross, some severely mushroomed bullets, 2 spencer shell casings, a few buck n balls, and various revolver balls in .36, .31,and .44 cal. also shown is an air bubble miscast .58 cal. bullet, it must have blown out when it left the barrel. i hope you enjoy the pics, and hh,

My mate and I usually come home with around 200 bullets between us!!! But then again we don't have any Civil war ones either. I have a small collection of musket balls I'll never part with, the rest of them go to the recyclers at 80cents a KG. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:
