Had our club hunt last Sat at one of our pounded to death spots, but some nice finds were found. Had about 12 people show up which is a good turn out for the club. Rain was in the forcast, but it held off till about 2:30 and then the skies opened up. Started out kind of slow as I was just going at a snails pace hoping to sniff out another Barber at an area where I got my last Barber quarter. Got a low tone figuring it might be a nickel and I was rewarded with a 1901 V nickel. Got a little clad and some junk and then it was lunch break time. Headed to another spot after lunch and got another low tone right off the bat. Dug down about 8 inches in the very wet mucky dirt and out pops another V nickel. Then about ten feet away from there I got yet another low tone and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was one more V nickel. The most V's I have ever gotten in a one day hunt was one so it was a nice first for me getting three and my SE was tuned into the V's on Sat. Got a little more clad and then I got a nice silver ring. The wheats were evading me, but I finally got two before the day was over. The wheaties were a 36 and a 45. My V's were 1901 1905 and my oldest V since I have been detecting was an1888. Some other finds by the other fellows were a 1898 Morgan silver dollar, a gold pocket watch and chain, two war nickels, a 1919 merc dime and one injun and another fellow also got a V nickel. My buddy Lee got a couple of wheaties, a no date V nickel and a 1935 silver quarter. All in all it was a great hunt and as always it's great to get out and swing a coil with good friends. I guess the old saying still goes that no place is completely hunted out and it was proven to me on Sat. Thanks for looking and GL & HH to everyone.
