My record wheat without silver count

Well-known member
At an 1898 homesite Sunday, 26 wheats without any silver...or any other obsolete coin finds.

Easily a record in "wheat" futility for me.

26 Wheats ain't bad!!

I guess I have gotten jaded, I remember I was darn excited when I found my first wheatie. But not too jaded since I still prefer finding a wheatie to a clad quarter despite the difference in value. Although that could partly be kind of a Pavlov's Dog response as in when there's wheat silver isn't usually too far behind.

I'm at close to 1,200 wheaties now but still no key dates. 1912-D and 1909 VDB are the best I've done so far.

Still get excited over any silver, though. Even all eighteen of my 64-D rosies. Most of those 64-D and most of my ten 64(P) dimes are blazers in close to uncirculated condition. The reason for that is logical when you think about it - the vast majority of 1964 coins were dropped within a year or two of being minted since silver faded from circulation pretty quickly after 1964.
