My quiet get away + a 925 ring

I got back from a 2 day trip at Venus Beach on the Gulf. We go there every Christmas. It is a quiet get away. It is nothing like the Atlantic coast. The lane is only 10 ft. wide and the waves are a lot smaller. The temperature was in the 80's.

It is a hot spot for sharks teeth. We can collect a 100 per day and we have over a 1000 of them.

The beach had very few finds with the MD.

The parking lot was a lot better. There is a restaurant at the beginning of the pier. It is the beach bath house at day and at night people dress up to dine there.

I found a 925 class ring in the parking lot. It hit on quarter.

There is an old arena there, with lots of trash. I would have to take my time. The family was waiting in the car. No time to take.

It is a wild looking area, with sand dunes and sea oats. Best of all it is all free, except motel and food.

I met a Mennonite in the parking lot with 4 MDer's and a young Mennonite boy. They were easy to id. they dress similar to Amish. We talked for 30 minutes and became friends. When I make my move to WV. he told me to get in touch with him. I have his e-mail. He has family that is Amish in PA. When he visits he wants me to come up and MD with him. He told me his family doesn't allow outsiders on their property. Then he was showing me his 1700's coins. I said sure, why not. What is a 5 hour drive for a MD buddy.

Wow, that's got all the stuff a great trip is made of. Nice and quiet, plenty of places to hunt, making friends who invite you to their own neck of the woods to detect. Congrats on the ring!

Merry Christmas to you and your family:wave:

...although Ill offer some tips to selling that may not be on your agenda!

Congrats on the ring. Looks like it will be an easy one to find the owner. My brother just moved out of FL. He would go to Venice beach and pick up those teeth. He sent me some, plus a few of the giant Megaladon teeth. They are about 4 inches long. Did you find any Megaladon ones. He told me they call that beach the

Man, you have brothers everywhere.
The largest shark teeth I have found is 2". Looking for shark's teeth is addictive like MDing.
Two years ago I just set up the chairs and turned around. A guy came up the beach with 3 giant Megaladon teeth. They where all about 6" long. There are many factors, but each was worth about $250 to $350. The winter is the best time for finding the really large teeth. Like for rings, the sea takes away the sand. When it get down to the hard bottom, that is where all the goodies lay. When the water is clear, snorkeling is a good way to find them. Most people use a basket to scrap the sand. They then bring it up on the beach and dump it out. They sell the large baskets for about $40. I'm cheep . I made my own.
This is the only picture I have of my basket.
