And it makes me faster at recoveries than most, too!
I am sure you guys have seen the supertuning videos on youtube by using coins.
Supertuning and detuning is great...comes in very handy in the field, but dealing with sliding coins, rubber bands, and all that other stuff would drive me crazy.
I always look for the easiest ways to do things in my life so I came up with this.
I have been using this technique for about as long as I have owned a Propointer, I relocated from no depth Alabama to great depth Kansas soil and now this works even better.
I just thought I would make a video to show how easy this is and how well this makes a Propointer perform.
Anything can used, I usually just go to Home Depot and buy a bag of 1/2 inch EMT pipe straps, bend the ends and squeeze the whole things together to fit my thumb.
If I run out or lose them, in the truck I always keep a few of those aluminum wires for strapping fences to the posts that I find all the time near fences when I hunt.
I can now get signals way further in the ground with this on my thumb than without, my holes are very small and my recoveries are super quick.
In moist ground this works even better, but even in bone dry soil I can get clicks that tell me exactly where to dig even if the targets are 4-5 and even 6 inches deep on coin size objects!
I am not kidding!
Just by wearing this piece of metal and holding your hand back on the handle in the normal position this will slightly supertune the unit and I get at least an extra inch in depth.
If I am in a deep hole and I am having trouble locating an object deeper in the bottom or in a sidewall, just by moving my thumb slightly I can supertune very quick and easy and locate any object without digging all over the hole...I just go right to it.
By supertuning to home in and then moving my thumb back to go into regular mode while the unit is in a hole then listening to the faster tone I have a great idea how close the object is and I can always dig around the coin and not scar it.
My biggest advantage, however, is locating a target underground that is way deeper than the 2" range out of the box before I dig.
All of this can be done quick, easily and efficiently with one hand.
I never want to hunt without my Propointer, and since I came up with this method, I never hunt without some kind of metal wrapped around my thumb.
