My Park finds

Magicman

Member
Here is are some things I found at one Park. I have only just begun in this park. (Ohio State Fair Token, 1803)

Awesome, I take the family to the Ohio State Fair every year - used to live in Columbus.

magicman, what a huge pile you have there. it represents a lot of digging and hard work for sure! how much is there? and what's the oldest coin? i know, i'm just full of questions today. great hunts, i like to see big piles like that. cool token too. hh,

Gray Ghost, I have only spent 5 days at this park and no more then 2 1/2 hours each time. (I hit it at 6:00 am and leave about 8:00-8:30, before the sun really gets going. I have gotten a couple Wheaties in the 40's and the merc is 1940. 138 items....$9.30 face value.... Good Time.....

The park dates back to the 1800's, found the old plats with it marked. A lot of fill dirt, you can see the layers when digging. I have been told this park had been detect by others, I guess they were cherry picking or running. Or enough time has gone by, folks have restocked.

Plan is to start hitting the not so popular areas of the park. The park is surrounded by houses and most of the park is open with trees here and there. Course I hit the older trees already.

Nice finds. You my need help at this park.

I am using the Explorer SE.

Anyone that wants to help is welcome to come on down, I am free most anytime.

BTW, picked up some more coins this morning and a ring (silver overlay)

Rich it looks like you got piles..... of coins that is. lol
Great work. You showed the forum that just because it has been detected and it is old it is not not not detected out. One thing I try to do is find the fringe of the park and work in. It takes a lot longer to detect but usually the finds are older, nicer, because most md'ers are after quick and lots of finds. I think missing the art of the hunt???
Great hunting..Z

I tell you picking up all this stuff, you learn a lot about your detector. I even pin point with out using the pinpoint on the machine. I also play games like guessing what it is before digging it using the fer and cond numbers. Also, in a park like this you have a lot of trash and you get better at picking items in between other items. I use the Joey coil 5x10. My 10.5 coil will drive me nuts in a place like this.
