ok I have hunted their yard three times, it is about an acre so it is taking some time

1st trip 41 coins one was a 50's wheatie, rest clad
2nd trip 12 coins all clad
3rd trip today 20 coins all clad
makes 73 coins from their yard so far.

I cannot believe how many quarters and dimes I find there 4" or so deep dated 1965 :rage:

their house was built in the 50's where is all the silver? does it seem real common to dig a LOT of 1965 coins?

:detecting:Man, thats wierd, where is the silver at!!!! But it a clad gold mine!!!

I can't wait to hit my parents yard. It too was built in the 50s. Should be fun.
Nice finds. Keep trying, silver must be there somewhere?!?!
I would say it has been hunted before.

Bill
if so it was many years ago with an old detector, before my parents lived there, my aunt and uncle lived there, and they said no one has detected it

Did you ask them if they heard any beeping noises at night?? :surprised:

Yea, I want to hunt my parents house, it one of the oldest homes in the area and its in their towns historical society. My Ma found a skeleton key while digging a spot for her garden a few years ago, should be some nice old relics and hopefully some old coins too...

I have poison ivy really bad right now, so once it heals I will go and detect it. She forgets that I was in the Marines and worries all the time, she would flip-out if she knew that I got poison ivy:rofl:

Someone lost a lot of coins that year.. Or maybe a spill..
The house I'm in was built in 1959. In the first 2-3 months I
had the ace 250 I found over 500 coins in the yard, and
still hadn't cleaned them all out yet. Have found about 100
more since then, and there is still more to be found.
More left in the front yard, than the back.
The back yard I've cleaned out pretty good. But...
I can still find a few coins out back if I look around.
IE: I went out there a few days ago using the 9x12 coil
and found 7-8 coins, mostly zincs...
No telling what the total yard count will end up here, but
could end up being near the 800-1000 range before it's all
over. I have quite a few more in the front yard I'm sure,
but have been slacking on weeding them out lately.
Back when I first got it, I found a cache of wheats in the
front yard about 15 feet from the front yard. 54 wheats
in one hole... :detecting:
I'm sure they were buried on purpose as they were very
tight in one spot. There were a few other coins with them,
and they were Canadian cents, etc.. So I know it wasn't
just a spill.
As far as spills... 1977 was a good year for the backyard..
Loads of spilled 77 zincs, etc.. Most were around the BBQ
grill area where many often sat around in lawn chairs.

I would try my parents house, But good ol' dad taught me hoe to detect... they did make a lot of 1965 coins, and yes we all find them in bunches.
