My opinion of the 3KZ coil

I must say I am very pleased with this coil so far. It is not as sensitive to iron as the 7.5Kz, thus less chatter and falsing, It runs very quiet. I am able to run the sens. on my 505 at 16-18 no problem, I live in New England and the ground tends to be pretty stable here so Please consider my opinion for my region I realize there are many of you who hunt some tuff ground. I would definately recommend that Minelab produce a 6'' version of this coil.

I love mine, have not had it off since I bought it, I found my 40th silver right about when I got it in July.....I am at 104 silvers now, 64 silvers in 3 months with that coil!

I agree with both of your points. It is not as sensitive to iron objects. And I wish Minelab would build a 6-inch DD in the 3 kHz freq. I've been talking with them about it for several years now. But unfortunately, they have no plans to do so. If you've not taken the opportunity to read some of my earlier posts on the benefits of using the 3 kHz coil, I'd encourage you to do so. Not only is it more sensitive to copper and silver targets, but when using the all metal, multiple tone mode, and when using my theory of "location consistency", I seldom get fooled by deep iron. Glad you like the coil. HH Randy

Treasurechic,
I am glad the coil is working out for you. I was so excited to get it but didn't realize until after the fact that it just doesn't
work well in my soil. I had a lot more success with the 6" HF DD or stock coil.
Now, just waiting for my 10.5 to come in.

Treasurechic, are you not able to run into the low 20s for sens? I find in Eastern WA I am able to run from 22 to 24 regularly. That is with the stocker and the 2 smaller HF coils. I will run much lower in some super heavy trash IF I don't have the 6" HF DD on.

lambo, which 10.5 are you getting? If you are getting the HF my ? would be what swayed you that way.
