Went to a friends house from work tonite whose house was built in 1790. Within 20 minutes I got a jumpy vdi from 65 to 76 , indicated 8 inches down. Dug 7" and found my oldest coin to date, a 1881 indian head cent in good condition. What a thrill!
But now for the best part.......shortly after finding it an older gentleman walked up to me and asked how I was doing. I introduced myself and explained a bit of how a detector works. He told me that he owned the farm next door, a 200+ acre, 300 year old farm. Being polite and remembering what I learned on here about old timers and what they can tell you, we continued to talk till the sun went down.
He gave me a wealth of info ,was an old barn there and a trolley came thru there etc etc.
I finally asked if he would mind me md'ing on his land.He told me come anytime. then I asked if anyone ever md there before and he told me no, that he never was asked or saw anyone with an md on his land before. And he has owned it for over 60 years.
Only hunted for about 1/2 hour but by being polite and carrying on conversation with this gentleman I now have a place to go that is HUGE and virgin besides.
I can't wait gor the weekend!!!
HH and remember you never know when or where you will happen upon a intriguing new site!

I guarantee you if your patient and take it slow, you WILL be rewarded with many great finds...When working a large amount of land, the main thing to remember is it is a lot of area to cover...and there will be days you come home with little...but there also will be days you come home with a lot <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
