David...
I know what you mean. I had a metal detector called the Double Eagle back in the seventies. It was a tube type detector that used a 67 1/2 volt battery and a 1 1/2 volt ignition battery. I think the 67.5 volt battery weighed as much as my Cibola does now. I found tons of stuff with it..but it was stolen from my home in a burglary. I have missed that detector ever since.
But you know what? My memory of that detector is now of how great it was back then. In my mind...I fail to compare it to what we are using today. I miss that machine but it would probably be collecting dust in a closet and I would still have the same memories. That is one thing they could not steal....my memories.
David..that is one gorgeous coin. I am sure that moment it came out of the ground is etched in your mind forever...

>>> You are so right, I have some detectors now that if I could have used at that moment back then, well, who knows? The key point is I dug a sweeeet sounding signal at the base of a huge old oak - I never checked the ID possibility by thumbing the DISC. I DUG because I knew THAT machine.>>>

<<< That is an understatement, I remember every detail and nuance of that moment. The junk and costume ring I found at the adjacent playground...the wheaties I found in another area of the park...the 1902 "V" nickle i found elsewhere under that same tree...the JUICE I felt at that instant. I have been looking for another one like it since. >>>
