My Old Kentucky Home....

For Crazyman, who wanted to see the old homeplace.
This is where my Dad grew up and where I spent most of my young life. This pic was taken standing at my Grandfather's old Blacksmith shop looking down toward the house. My Grandfather worked for the coal mines as a blacksmith. He had his own shop where he shod horses and mules for the farmers and forge welded for many of the folks around the area. My grandparents were married in 1917 and built this house in 1921 on property given to them by my Grandmother's parents.
This is Eastern Ky. right where the Hatfield/McCoy feud took place. My Grandmother was a young girl at the time of the feud and remembered some of it. Many of my cousins and family are direct descendants of the Hatfield's and also the McCoy's. By the way, the big old Pine Tree in the yard was planted in 1917 by my Grandfather...He told me about buying it for a few cents from a traveler and how he planted it one night after he came home from work. He said it was only about 2 feet tall when he planted it..It is at least 100 feet tall now!
