My old detector Vs new?

I have a Teknetics Mark 1 that I got at a rummage sale for $25 last month. It's in mint condition with original box and manual. Works great. I was wondering, How does it compare performance-wise to the newer models? This one dates back to 1984.

Thanks!

The Teknetics Mark 1 I had was a hip mounted reconditioned like new model. The good point the ID meter could tell the difference between a clad and silver coin. The depth was sub par on my unit maybe 4 to 5 inches on most coins, which I noticed most coins were in the flap or just beneath the surface.Even hip mounted it felt like a suitcase.Sixteen batteries are a lot of batteries to replace.Compared to a CZ,XLT,Ace250 and other mid priced units my opinion its obsolete. The old Teknetics in good condition will probably auction for 200 dollars plus.It would make a good clad machine but its just too heavy.

that machine was designed by George payne and is still considered one of the best ever made.go over to the metal detector equipment fourm and you could easily sell it for over two hundred dollars. go to www.broken detectors and see what Kieth wills i believe thats his name.gets for rebuilding them and selling them.
