My observations on the Musketeer & some tesoros ive owned

JUst got a Musketeer advantige ,and i was doing some testing whith it and my observation are,, the musketeer is very deep on coins far deeper than my Golden . silver, compadre. and cibola , BUT on gold rings the tesoroes exell, probly because of the higher frequincy the tesoros can pick up a pencil eraser better you know the aluminum ones and im not mocking this is a good trait and the tesoro machines in my opinion pinpoint far better If i was going to hunt the scool yard or beach i would take a tesoro but if i was looking for deeper silver coins the musketeer is far better i can peg a dime at 8" using the 7" minlab coil did not seemuch diffrence between the 7" and the 10" coil I have never used a vaquero but I bet its good whish tesoro would get a 12 khz increas gaing detector whith a ground bal and make a 5" concentric and a 7.5" widscan and a 9" widscan i bet it would be a winner

Very interesting, Gunnar. I had been toying around with the idea of trying a Musketeer, but everyone keeps saying that the Cibola is just as deep and better in iron. I guess I won't be satisfied until I try one and see how well it performs as a relic and deep coin machine. :clapping:

The musky is also hot on bottlecaps and washers Gunnar, it will be interesting to see what your posting about it in a month or two. Ive had two of them, they seperate really well and can get stuff really deep. I would say they actually pinpoint better than a concentric coil but Ive used the DD coils more.
The Musky like the Vaquero is more of a relic machine in my opinion since theres nothing you can do but set your disc and dig, no cross reference like on the Tejon or X5, no ID like on the Cortes/deleon. Minelab would really boost sales on that machine if they would come out with a meter for it.
Good luck with it!

No the musketeer does not have tone I D it is one tone but it will spit when passing Iron I generally find good targets have a good solid rounded sound and junk tends to have a very crackly edge to it but i dig most every thing even whith the golden Except when i get tired my suspicion is the vaquero may be as deep as the musketeer would love to do some depth testing in my ground whith one

Yesterday I was detecting with musky in empty pond, Soft watery mud and stones. A lot of rusty iron, Performance was super, rusty pieces I passed usually without any sound, copper and lead gave clear signal. Great machine, but clumsy and heavy, at least for me. Why Minelab does not continue with new generation of musky ??? Its a shame! It would be a killer.
