After nearly 2 1/2 months of research, talking, door knocking, phone calls and assistance from friends and "friends of friends", I have finally got in touch with the current landowner AND farmer of these huge sugarcane fields that once was part of a "cane" plantation in Southern Louisiana. The landowner wanted me to also get permission from the farmer. It was hard locating him since it had been farmed by several different farmers over the last few years. Not even the locals knew the answer? Anyway, this beautiful plantation home was built in the early 1830's and was used as a hospital during the Civil War battles which occurred in my immediate area during the Fall of 1863. It inspired much of the construction of the plantation home "movie set" scenes and staircase design from Gone With the Wind. The area has been hunted long ago and produced lots of relics to include cannon balls and cannon tubes. I got a feeling its going to produce so more relics and I'm gonna be coming here as much as I can before planting.

It was very muddy yesterday but I was able to get out there for about 2 hrs with the MXT Pro. Found a few items of interest and my oldest silver coin (1807 Spanish Reale) to date.

Thanks for looking. CCH
