My New Toy Arrived

Sven

Well-known member
Its really nice!
This one was an actual Euro made for the European market that was sold thru Joan Allen Electronics in the UK and imported back to the US.

What a pretty detector! Makes me think back to tabdog's posts about using a EuroSabre ... when he wasn't obsessed with a Compadre that is.

Gave it a very quick thin gold chain air test with and without clasp. Without ground balancing.
Good response in all metal and disc mode.
Will play more with it on Tuesday.

I like the tones as well.

If you ever want to get rid of it give me a call , you got one nice machine with that ED 180 that was a nice buy . I can see why you could not resist that toy .

It sure is pretty!

Is the iron ID set at a certain point or can you move the discrimination point for the iron audio tone ID?

Iron ID only works in disc mode. And only if the disc is set no higher than iron. But, I found out it will work until a larger iron spike is disc'd out, between foil and iron.
Actually has three tones. Low for iron, high tone for non-iron and high-low or rolling mixed tone. There are two pots on the board, one might be for changing position of the
low tone. I like the tones, when in iron ID mode, there's more of a tonal language to help ID a target than in regular single tone mode that Tesoros run in.

This Euro air test extremely well compared to the older Silver Sabre umax. Just a bit better than the Eldo umax I once owned. In disc mode its a lot better than the Eldo, just falls short
of an inch when I compared it to my air test chart of a Tejon I owned set at Max sensitivity. Note I did change out two parts on the PCB last night. I am able to get max depth out of all metal mode,
then switch to disc mode and get identical depth, you can swing the coil just a tad slower now in disc mode.

I did have a 7" coil to test on the Euro. Compared to the 8" coil, the 7" lost about 1.5-2" air test depth.

When the weather breaks, I'll get out with it.
I like this machine, very nice audio overall.
Now I could be very wrong, think they set up the European Euro a bit different then those orig. made for the US market. I don't remember the Euro I had in 2005 being as good as this Euro or any better than the Silver Sabre umax I had at the time. Think that's why I sold it a few weeks later.

You can't have this one, going to keep it. If I ever do sell it..............down the road..........who knows when........Gunnar will let you know.
