Is there a trick to obtain stability?
I am new to the machine any help would be greatly appreciated

Not being a smart@ss either. The Tiger will not handle the iron and salt together at all. I had one....sold it...many others had em...and had to sell them for the same reasons.
The Tiger is great in freshwater....but in the salt and with alot of iron you will have to lower sensitvity so low that you would get a few inches at best.
Most people around will end up using an Excal or a Sovereign at the beaches .....especially in wet sand. In the dry stuff it does not matter.
I have tried em all in our sand and the best unit was a Sovereign.......sorry to say.

I will second that statement. Traded the Tiger and got a Sovereign! al
