Vaquero tricked out on a straight shaft with Sharp Shooter coil.

Hey John you did a nice job there. Tell me, can you select the cable length on that sharpshooter? I have that coil on my Etrac and think its a really good one.
Wondering if that cable comes in like a 7ft length so you can wade with it?

The Vaq with this set up swings great. The rod is one made by Bill Quinn from Plugger. The Sharp Shooter seems like the perfect size coil for this unit. Hits the lower conductive targets very well, and separates/recovers fast.Going to take this set up for it's maiden voyage in the dry sand at the beach tomorrow.

I just got a 5.75 Widescan that I am going to compare, as well as putting on the big 10x12 to see how that feels.

All in all, I have always liked how straight rods and the way the handle feels, so I ended up ordering one. Bill does great work and has all kinds of rod set ups.

I hear ya about a longer cable for wading. I got the 10x12 coil with the 7 foot cable just for that purpose. Figured I could put the V control box on my hip in one of those water proof soft containers, and wade in fresh water with the bigger coil.

All in all, the Sharp Shooter is becoming one of my favorite coils.

Therover keep us posted on the Sharpshooter coil. Like how well does it discriminate and what kind of depth to expect.

Hope it works well for you!
Cheers.

That's a real nice setup John.

I really like those setups just wonder about the stand does it interfere with your swing at anytime I would like to set MY Bandito II

Thats a very nice looking outfit, although i dont own one myself,i do use the exact same straight shaft made by Plugger on my Pulse machine and also the SharpShooter coil on my T2.

Well done on producing a high quality outfit.

The stand does not get in the way, and I can move it all the way to the back if I have to. Most times I take it off when beach hunting.

A few summers back I did that with a Vaquero and a Cibola I had. I put the control box in a gallon sized plastic bag, same size I wrap the Sov control box with, and then tied it off on the cable with a piece of bicycle tube rubber pulled tight and put that in a small nylon bag I hung around my neck. Thats a whole lot lighter than the Sov box. The 10x12 coil with the long cable is a good one, lots of coverage and sensitivity and actually not heavy at all with that thick coil cover removed. Tesoro sure makes some thick covers for their coils.

Good luck with it.
