My new old Golden is soon to be complete again.

Just as soon as my new old Cleansweep coil shows up.

Kind of hard not having a Golden in working order around the house. Sure be glad when the two are matched up again.

"Tones Rule" :super:

Hey, I thought you had sold yours and I thought well if Mike had gotten tired of his, I probably don't need to inverst the money in one. I thought you had found something better-miss those Golden posts.

There were a couple of detector deals that were just too good to pass up (new Fisher CoinStrike and a new Fisher GoldStrike) so I had sold my Golden and Cleansweep coil along with some others to help cover the purchase. I got another Golden just as soon as I could and found another Cleansweep coil just as soon as I could. They should be reunited this evening :beers:

To tell the truth, the Cleansweep coil is what keeps me tied to Tesoro.

Mike-----Your cleansweep coil should be there "pretty quick now".--Be sure & P.M. me & let me know that it arrived ok & how you like it.--------Del

You guys are making me want to put a Golden on the want to get detector list!!!!

That's what they did to me. Then he sold it and the posts kinda stopped-and I had the Royal with 3 tones anywho. So I just kinda pushed it out of my mind. When Obama sends me my free money, I'm gonna get one.

Hey Tinfoil,

I've got to adjust this one too. Its only giving one tone right now. Been waiting for the coil so I can tune it up. I believe the person that had it before me was missing out as they didn't know how it was susposed to work.

I'll tune it up right Saturday night, then I'll post a hunt with it Sunday evening. I've got some Fisher and Omega coils I need to spend some time proving out Sunday morning, but after that I'll run the Golden for some fun time.

If you are wondering about the Golden, its all about the tone id. With tones you don't spend a lot of time checking signals. You don't spend any time thumbing a disc dial or even looking at a display. You just hear the tone and automatically know what conductive range the target is in and can make a dig/no dig decision right away. Add the Cleansweep coil to the mix and you can go cruising and just pay attention to the tones you care about. When you are only hunting the top 5" of the ground the more ground covered equals more goodies in the bag when you're done. And if you have regular jewelry routes like I do, then its ALL about ground coverage because the more of a route I can cover, the more likely I'll be bringing home a nice jewelry find for that day.

I did my old machine so long ago I forgot where it was set. I know You have to have the notch trim Pot on the face set to the middle and the notch sw. centered. When I blew my old Golden one up with the new 7" wide scan coil I bought I sent it to Tesoro to get fixed and they fixed it but it has never been the same. I used to be able to hit my 9.5" dime with my 5.75" coil and it would hit the weak high/zinc tone and that let me know it was a deep coin. Now on the weak low tones I have to thumb the dis. and you can't dis it out or any deep copper penny or above coin out. I sent the machine back to them a few times and even offered to pay them to adjust it back like it was but guess it took to much time and now they just adjust them general ball park. I think JB's Golden will hit the deep coins with that High/Zinc tone. I know you got to really work to get that tone back as it was not easy. I really had to play with it to get it back. Now I got to go and do it to both my Goldens. I was just wondering if JB had a pic. of where he has his set. Will give me a general spot to start off. Hope he is reading this. So both my Goldens are only running correct tone at about 7"s on high tone only and a low tone at 9.5 to 10"s but you can't dis the low tone out when you turn the dis. all the way to the right. You do have to sweep faster on the deep target to hear the low tone though as you crank the dis. to the right. If you don't sweep fast and you sweep slow when you crank up the dis. you will lose the copper and above target. Also crank up the threshold and you will get a louder audio low tone. I don't like having to adjust my machine as I think It should be adjusted to max when you send it in for a tune up or be repaired. So when you guys get that weak low tone thumb your dis. all the way to the right and see if you can dis. it out. If it won't dis out then dig it cause it is a copper and above target. Later Bud, and if you know about the pot let me know. I am busy as can be and I just don't have time to mess with mine right now. Any info will be appreciated. Glad to see you get a Golden back. Did you get the old one or a new one. I have my old one and a new one and both have to be adjusted. What a pain in the butt that is anyway. HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

I sit possible to get a little more separation on the nickel and zinc tones ? And how much heavier is the clean sweep coil ?

Can you guys verify this? I understand you can change the tones and their mixtures by adjusting the notch control-their is no need to go inside. I can do this with my Royal Sabre.

A friend I sold my Golden to called a few minutes ago and said you asked about a photo of where I had the tone/notch pot set to give the high/zinc tone mix on deep coins. The photo shows where I had it set but I don't think the pot is even a full one turn, so it doesn't take much adjustment to make a big difference. Also, as you already know, yours most likely won't give the same results set at the same place, but maybe it'll be close enough to only require a small tweak. You know which pot is which, but for those that don't, the tone/notch pot is on the right, the ground balance pot is higher to the left.

Is center the Notch switch, center the Notch width Knob and adjust the POT. It really jerked my chain that Tesoro would not adjust it back like it was even after I offered to pay them. If it would not have been for a new bad 7" widescan coil blowing my Baby up and them changing the adjustment that they did not have to touch I would have been ok. I will get it done, on both of my Goldens. The old one first then the New one. Thanks My Friend, :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

I can second what Mike says here. Ive used a Golden for years now and have found they are a joy to use for all the reasons he admits to. They are dead simple, but offer a nice blend of signal processing ability with a lightning fast target response - no processing delays, in other words!
Thy are also lightweight and can be used with little fatigue.

Would a clean-sweep coil go better on a Silver u-Max, or a Cibola. I have both. I primarily relic hunt with them...Thanks
