My New MXT vs My Xterra 705

Got my new standard mxt and went to a nearby park that I had went to about a month ago with my xterra 705. The section of the park I was hunting was extremely trashy...I'm talking every swing you here low beeps, so with my xterra 705 with the stock 9 coil I found 2 quarters 10 dimes 2 nickels and 11 pennies...... Took the mxt out today to the same section of the park with the excellarator 5 DD coil and found 5 dimes 11 pennies that i seemed to miss with the 705. So was it me that missed these good targets or was it the difference of having the mxt.......... The answer is, it was the difference the mxt made because I dont miss much  The mxt is an awesome detector which is now my go to detector!!!!!!!!

Both are great machines no doubt. But to me the only way to compare is you get a hit with one machine. Turn it off and use the other on that same target at that same angle. I have hunted lots of places many times going over the same sections with the same machine and still pull nice finds each time. This is why I go over the same areas at different angles.

I agree with Khouse. You're first hunt you removed 2 quarters, 10 dimes, 2 nickels and the 11 pennies that otherwise might have added to the finds of the second hunt. I've done quite well with my MXT and really like it, but swinging over a target with each machine before it's recovered probably is the better test. Whenever I read a post that says such and such a target was found by machine X - I can't help but wonder how many other machines would have found the same target as easily if the coil passed over it. You do have 2 capable machines regardless of which one you grab IMHO.

Yes I agree with both of you.... But my MXT was new to me and I had a new 5 inch coil and I was excited to be using an MXT since it was the detector I had been wanting for a long long time. So, yeah I probably could have went over the same area again with my 705 and a smaller coil and probably had the same results as I did with the MXT but it was the wow factor of having my favorite machine....lol IMHO I prefer the MXT over the 705 (now I do have alot of hours on my 705) but the MXT is an easier machine to operate with understanding the tones(more distinguishable tone when it hits a good target) and whole set up and I feel that the MXT gets better depth..... jmho

The MXT is a killer in trash with the smaller coils.
