My New Golden Umax

I've had my new Golden U max for just on 4 weeks now ( I first had one in 2003), and I used it to hunt round parks and sporting fields that I (and everyone else in the town I live) regularly hunt. My coin tallies generally are not what you could cal high, and nowhere near as high as my city cousins or our friends in other parts of the world (eg USA, Britain) which have denser and larger populations ( I'm from Aus). So, having said all that, my coin tally for the Golden for the 4 weeks is 106 coins for $109.80, including 6 pre-decimal (pre 1965 mintage and 1968 usage), 2 sterling silver rings and one junk ring and a few pieces of junk jewellery (sorry, no pics). I dont think I could be happier with the Golden U max. Have not been using the notch (yet) and have just set disc. at the arrow head. I have mainly used the standard 9 x 8 coil, but the last hunt (which included of the silver rings) I used the 5.75" concentric coil, which was brilliant. A big thanks to Paul Knee, who is the Australian Distributor for Tesoro, who backs up his service with action, not just words.

I keep looking at the Golden and hesitate pulling the trigger on one.

Not sure why. It looks like a great detector.

what ? are you hunting that gives you 109.80 out of just 106 coins ???

I live in Australia Jim...Putting $1 and $2 coins in the mix helps to give value total a bit of a boost.

Around here, 100 coins will tally up to around $12. :(

Hi Tabman, I dont always get that sort of coin/value ratio - however the Golden Umax gives great ID on our $ coinage, and has found a lot of deeper ones missed by other detectorists (and myself)....not super deep, but probably deep enough and in such a position as to confuse some visual ID machines.

When using the Golden turn down the Threshold to help eliminate smaller pieces of foil. The Threshold is a secondary sensitivity control.
