hi guys been using my new f70 for few days im liking it so far it does alot of chattering im wondering if its me or the md been running the sens at 60 to 70 threshold at -3 the only thing thats seems to help is turning the sens way down around 30 to 40 but in doing that how much depth im losing any tips on this would be appreciated. i have the 10 inch and 11 inch coil seems a little better with smaller coil ................HH

sens at 30-40 is about right..i have the f75 and am finding out that its about impossible to run it above 50 or so in trashy spots...you'll get good depth..these machines just have to much power for most situations...dont worry its there if you need it..i read all the time about these guys running full sensitivety and wonder how its possible?awsome machine's thoe...

And if it starts chattering out in the field, push that HZ button...those two things should settle it right down...once you get to know it, using DP or 3H, or the higher tone settings, you can sweep really trashy areas and still hear the coins amidst all the chaff.
I'm usually running mine at disc 15, sens 60-70, thresh -3, DP tones with the 11" dd coil
you can ground balance in AT, by taking disc down to 0 finding a clear patch, and then just move your disc back up to where you like it..since most of the little gold rings come in in the low 20's..
If you cant find a clear patch to GG, dont worry about it, just turn it on and go! (GG is probably pretty important when you are looking for deep old silver. but in a totlot or general schoolyard cladgrabbing, not so much) When you get in a totlot with metal poles, or bleachers, it will scream when you try to keep close to them, but dont let that stop you from trying! slow down and get that coil right in there, and listen for that low grunt, for the gold, or the high one for those dimes and quarters...thats where you'll get the silver rings too!
Seems like in those gravel totlots a fellow has to drop the sens quite a bit, but the machine will still pull metal so dont worry too much about the sens being low...consider it a blessing, having a machine that has quite a bit of capability to let you hunt about anywhere others would pass on.
Ok, well, I'm off to sweep a beach...HH

I have an f5 that I use in a 800 X 1000 ft.field that is open with nothing around, and at one end of that field my f5 will chatter like crazy???? At the other end of the field it is as quiet as a church mouse???? Can"t seem to understand, only thing that it could be is mineralization it that part of the field. Hope this might help you.

when i was using the f70 could run it at high sensitivity depending on the area. Higher sense definitely was more vocal overall- but I was getting stuff at 8 to 10 inches then. Have you tried a number of different areas? Some backfilled or heavy traffic areas can be full of junk. If it can only run at 30-40 everywhere I would wonder, unless of course it was a regional soil thing.
