I am going to have an e trac delivered to me in jan. lol it will be hard to wait for the use untill thaw. Are there any northern michigan treasure hunters on here.

After you learn all your controls and have a little time on it you will love the simplicity of it .

Good luck with your new E-Trac !

Do what we do ... put a Rain & Dust cover on your machine - grind the end of your digger to a very sharp point ( this makes it a lot easier to dig through frozen ground ) and hunt all Winter !
You can swing in powder snow ... as long as it's not more than 4" or 5" deep - a plus ... you can easily see the area that you've already hunted by looking at your footprints in the snow.
Also, try hunting in wooded areas - sites with lots of leaves on the ground never really freeze solid - open grassy areas freeze first - their almost impossible to dig in the dead of Winter.

Happy Hunting ! :detecting:

Okay so I've been thinking eabout the x Terra 705 as well. Is that a huge downgrade from the E trac? I do like the minelab detectors and I want a detector that will can I say grow with me in advanced features. I still want something that will keep up with the big boys. I am leaning pretty much on the e trac. It sounds like an pretty sweet machine with advancements in technology to really help you find that missed silver. Price wise its a rather large jump would I be crazy to go with the x terra. I did not think about the explorer or safari to be honest I have not done much homework on the last 2 detectors. Basically I was thinking if I were to go with the explorer or safari price wise I would go for the e trac.

Now you don't sound like you know for sure if you got an Etrac coming in January for sure or not!--------Get an Etrac--problem solved & best decision!

If you want a machine that will hold your interest for a long time I say ditto to D&P-OR, get the Etrac and be done with it. We have a Safari that's slightly used on our website if price is an issue, but I prefer how the Etrac has upgrade capabilities and you can share/try settings from others...and FBS technology.
