My new digger/popper design... Will it work?????

[size=medium]I've gone from hand diggers like Fisker's and True
Temper, to screw drivers, which I use most of tha
time now......... Because I can pinpoint and judge
depth better now.

But I wanted somethin shaped a little different, and
something a little more heavy duty.

My most recent digger I made from an old Craftsman
1/2" breaker bar. It's stainless steel and strong. I
made it with a 6" bench grinder.

After I shaped tha metal, I got a can of plastic dip
for about $7 at Lowes, and put four coats on my
big screw driver and my brass probe.

I put several coats on my new digger to have a
large enough handle.

I'll start with a group photo for perspective.

My new digger is actually 12.5" long. There is an
illusion in the photo.

Tell me what you think about my design.............

It should do just fine Tabdog now we got to give it a name. I have to get me a can of that plastic dip stuff, I have always wanted to try it but never think to get it when I am at a place that sells it. I can see it now, everything I own will be dipped in plastic. Does it come in my favorite color, orange. Steve.

It looks very nice! Good and strong, and the shape is good. I hope it works well for you, Beale.

Nice work Tabdog....

...I usually buy the cheap gasket scraper/pry bar from Harbor Freight Tools for $3.99 and it seems to do the trick.
But I do like the lesser angle you have created as well as the rounded yet pointy tip for pushing into the soil.

Now I have good reason to purchase a bench grinder.

I must admit though that I am one of those who uses the Lesche Digger mostly.
What I need is to get back in form with my pinpointing since I have just started detecting again after a few years layoff:)

TOO MUCH DIRT, NOT ENUFF TIME!

Ok - it just hit me what it reminds me of. One of the tools used in wood lathe work.

There are a variety of tools for wood lathe - so may be some additional ideas there TD.

I knew there was more to it than just licking the frosting off it after making cup cakes.

Yes Samurai Tabdog, you'll probably do fine with that new weapon!
